3-Pillar-Strategy

Scoring-model for value investors

The 3-pillar strategy was developed by a boersengefluester.de reader on an Excel basis and later transformed by us into a digital, interactive tool. Core approach: For each year with a rising share price, higher dividend and improved earnings per share, there is one point - for each discipline. This means a maximum of 3 points per year, no matter how big the share price increase or the profit improvement. The higher the score at the end over different time intervals, the better. You can also weight the individual criteria according to your personal preferences via "Individual settings". Important: The top scorers in the "3-pillar strategy" are not necessarily stocks with a particularly low P/E ratio, but companies that deliver continuously over many years. Further useful explanations can be found below the tool.

Advertising is an important revenue channel for us. But we understand, that sometimes it becomes annoying. If you want to reduce the number of shown ADs just simply login to your useraccount and manage the settings from there. As registered user you get even more benefits.

3-Pillar-Strategy: With this tool for the pre-selection of stocks, boersengefluester.de has broken new ground if only because it is not - as is usually the case - a classic in-house development by us, but we have further developed the "3-pillar strategy" conceived by Börsenrunde Leinetal around Rolf Grotjahn. In this sense, it is the first user-generated tool on boersengefluester.de, which we are particularly proud of. From the very beginning, we were enthusiastic about this tool, which was originally programmed on the basis of Excel.

The basic idea: With the help of the 3-pillar scoring model, companies or shares can be located whose prices, profits and dividends have risen continuously over a freely selectable period of time (short, medium or long term). "I expect more solid and lasting returns from these companies than from so-called price rockets," says Rolf Grotjahn. In addition, the Börsenrunde Leinetal from Lower Saxony was inspired in the conception of the tool by the American value investor legend Benjamin Graham, who has always attached central importance to the development of dividend yields, profits and stock market prices in his works (for example in his classic "Investing Intelligently").

This is how the tool works: In the default setting, all points awarded refer to the period of the past ten years. For each year with rising share prices (based on the respective change from year-end price to year-end price), improved earnings per share and increased dividends, one point is awarded. The degree of increase is irrelevant, only the direction is important. Ideally, 30 points are accumulated over a ten-year period. For a year with an unchanged dividend or constant profit, you get half a point each. In addition, you can filter the universe of shares according to sectors, regional criteria, market segments or even indices. Under X-Caps we have grouped together companies with a stock market value of more than 1 billion euros, but which are not in any index. ALLCAPS includes all shares from the BGFL database.

Detailed overviews of the individual shares with very long-term graphical representations of the influencing factors relevant for this scoring tool - year-end closing price as well as earnings and dividends per share - are available by clicking on the "More info" button. Be sure to test it! All data are continuously maintained by boersengefluester.de.

Important for the interpretation of the scoring value: Not all shares placed at the top are necessarily worth buying. Some stocks may have passed their peak in the meantime. A good additional indicator here is the annual chart with the 200-day average line, which should be regularly consulted for evaluation before buying.

What the tool does in any case: It is the perfect tool for pre-selecting individual stocks and gives a sure feeling for the quality of stocks - and without complicated balance sheet analyses or other forecasting models. In any case, boersengefluester.de is very proud that Börsenrunde Leinetal, a long-time user of our database, has decided to cooperate with us in this way. After all, a lot of heart and soul goes into the development of such a complex Excel spreadsheet. It is not necessarily a matter of course to freely share the result of the many efforts with a larger circle of readers such as that of boersengefluester.de. Many thanks to the Börsenrunde Leinetal!

Our call: Anyone who is interested in the Börsenrunde Leinetal and perhaps even wants to join it, is very welcome to contact us. The Börsenrunde is an association of active shareholders with the aim of achieving better results in their own financial investments through an intensive exchange of opinions and experiences. It is a private group without commercial goals. Simply send an e-mail to hallo@börsenrunde.de.

Legend/Explanation

Dividend score: Sum of all points for the years in which the dividend was either increased (1 point) or remained unchanged (0.5 points). Zero rounds give 0 points.

Earnings score: Sum of all points for the years in which earnings per share either increased (1 point) or remained constant (0.5 points).

Price score: Sum of all points for the years in which the year-end price was higher (1 point) or remained the same (0.5 points) than the corresponding value in the previous year.

Total points: Sum of all points from dividend, profit and price score.

Interpretation: The more points, the better.

Please note: The evaluations in this tool do not represent investment recommendations or a proposal for an investment strategy. Each investor must decide for himself whether a share is actually suitable for his own portfolio. All data is carefully maintained by boersengefluester.de (BGFL). However, we cannot guarantee its accuracy.
