About Gereon Kruse
All for german shares
"You have made the right and good decision’". With these words, the two editors-in-chief Dr Frank Werner and Michael Kölmel congratulated me on my BÖRSE ONLINE subscription in January 1989 - more than 35 years ago. At the time, I was just starting my degree in economics at Ruhr University Bochum and had no idea what my subscription to BO would lead to. One thing was certain: I had a huge interest in shares, and I really wanted to do something to do with shares later in my career.
When I finally had my university diploma in the bag, fate brought me together with BÖRSE ONLINE again. ‘We are looking for a financial analyst/financial editor’, I read in an April issue of BO in 1994 and was promptly invited for an interview after my application. Apparently I made a good impression, because I got the job in the equities team and moved from the Ruhr area to Munich in the summer of 1994. Initially, I experienced the change of ownership from the publishing house Moderne Industrie to Gruner + Jahr. At that time, BÖRSE ONLINE's editor-in-chief was Hans G. Linder, who I still hold in high esteem today.
In the years that followed, events came thick and fast: Deutsche Telekom went public in November 1996, and shortly afterwards the Neuer Markt was launched with just two companies. By this time, I had already been promoted to Head of Corporate Analysis Germany. In April 2000, I was even appointed Deputy Editor-in-Chief of BÖRSE ONLINE under the direction of Johannes Scherer. It was a dream come true. But the exuberant times for shares were over, followed by a three-year bear market, which also left deep scars on BÖRSE ONLINE.

While share prices recovered, the environment for investment magazines remained challenging. The crash had destroyed a lot of investor confidence, and competition from the internet was becoming increasingly fierce. In spring 2009 - a few months after the Lehman bankruptcy - Gruner + Jahr merged the Financial Times Deutschland (FTD), Capital, BÖRSE ONLINE and Impulse to form Gruner + Jahr Wirtschaftsmedien. I remained deputy editor-in-chief of BÖRSE ONLINE under Stefanie Burgmaier within the newly founded joint editorial team. The reorganisation in March 2009 involved moving the editorial team from Munich to Frankfurt. But there was no happy ending for the editorial venture.
At the end of 2012, the publishing house decided to discontinue FTD due to its persistently red figures, Impulse underwent a management buy-out and BÖRSE ONLINE was sold to Munich-based Finanzen Verlag, which in turn is headed by Dr Frank Werner, at the beginning of 2013. So the circle is complete. My time at BÖRSE ONLINE came to an end with the new change of ownership - after almost 19 years. What remained was my passion for shares. And so I quickly decided to publish my knowledge and experience on my own website. Boersengefluester.de - officially launched on 20 May 2013 - stands for good old BÖRSE ONLINE traditions*: In-depth, useful and independent financial journalism, paired with a reliable database for shares. The site has long since made a first-class name for itself in the small cap scene and is becoming a daily read for more and more investors.
At the highly regarded finanzblog awards organised by comdirect bank , boersengefluester.de won the audience award in 2016 and came third in the jury ranking. A double placing of this kind was a first in the history of the finanzblog awards. ‘Anyone looking for in-depth information about shares is in the right place here - you'll find lots of content and, above all, something new in terms of interaction,’ said jury member Joachim Goldberg in his laudatory speech in Hamburg, highlighting the more than 40 tools and overviews we have developed. In March 2021, boersengefluester.de took no less than first place in the ranking of online media in the study conducted by the Cologne-based investor relations consultancy IR.on: ‘The most important financial and business media for small and mid-caps 2020/21’ with a score of 1.67 for the quality of reporting.

The combination of in-depth editorial stock reports and powerful analysis tools is therefore well received and you can be sure that we will continue to develop this form of data journalism with great passion and dedication. Currently, well over 4,500 users visit boersengefluester.de every day. I couldn't wish for a better endorsement. Thank you very much for that!
Another important step: boersengefluester.de GmbH has been in existence since 30 August 2022 - after all editorial activities in the previous 9.5 years were carried out from the status of a freelancer. This change of name opens up more opportunities for us to position the boersengefluester.de project as promisingly as possible for the future. However, nothing will change in terms of our passion for the stock market and second-line stocks. I promise! Yours, Gereon Kruse
*Addition: At the end of November 2021, Kulmbacher Börsenmedien AG (DER AKTIONÄR) took over significant parts of Finanzen Verlag - including BÖRSE ONLINE.
Founded in 2013 by Gereon Kruse, the financial portal boersengefluester.de is all about German shares - with a clear focus on second-line stocks. In addition to traditional editorial articles, the site stands out in particular thanks to a large number of self-developed analysis tools. All tools are based on a completely self-maintained database for more than 650 shares. As a result, boersengefluester.de produces Germany's largest profit and dividend forecast.
