Blaubeuren, 29. Januar 2024 – Das US-amerikanische Unternehmen Suniva Inc. hat im Oktober 2023 angekündigt, seine bestehende Produktionsstätte für hocheffiziente Solarzellen in Norcross, Georgia, wieder in Betrieb zu nehmen und mit moderner Produktionstechnologie auszustatten. Für die thermischen Prozessschritte Annealing, Diffusion und PECVD (Anti-Reflexionsbeschichtung und Passivierung) wird centrotherm im Januar das letzte von insgesamt drei Anlagenpaketen für die Produktionslinie mit einer geplanten Jahreskapazität von einem Gigawatt liefern. Suniva ist der größte Hersteller von hocheffizienten monokristallinen Silizium-Solarzellen in Nordamerika und beabsichtigt, die jährliche Produktionskapazität weiter auf bis zu 2,5 GW zu erhöhen. "Die Wiedereröffnung der Produktion in Norcross ist der erste Schritt zum Wiederaufbau der Solarzellenproduktion in den Vereinigten Staaten, der die Energieunabhängigkeit und -sicherheit unseres Landes stärken wird", betont Matt Card, Präsident und Chief Operating Officer von Suniva. Jan von Schuckmann, Vorstandsvorsitzender von centrotherm, ergänzt: "centrotherm hat bereits 2008 und 2009 schlüsselfertige Produktionslinien an Suniva geliefert und wir sind stolz darauf, zum Wiederaufschwung der Photovoltaikindustrie in den USA beizutragen. Im Rahmen des Inflation Reducion Act, der die heimische Produktion von Anlagen für saubere Energie stärkt, erwarten wir weitere Impulse aus dem US-Markt."
